Happy 100th post to me.

Whew!!! 100 posts. My first post was April 23rd 2008. It still sits there alone with 0 comments.
What a lonely coconut cake.
I again want to thank EVERYONE who reads my blog. And especially want to thank those of you who take your time out of your day to leave your kind comments. If it weren't for comments we would have no idea who, if anyone is reading our blogs.
I always go back and forth..to blog or to stop blogging. As you all know it is very time consuming but also so very rewarding. So for now, I am on the continue blogging side. But tomorrow, who knows. What would I do with all of my time if stopped???LOL
So again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
Also if you have any suggestions on my blog, feel free to let me know..more this..less of that??!!
Above is a GIANT cupcake cake I made today. You cant really tell it is big, but it is. I used the Wilton Giant Cupcake Pan. My sister asked me to make the cake for her daughters birthday. After all of the stress I had with my 3 year olds Sleeping Beauty Birthday cake, I was hesitant. But I couldn't turn down a chance to bake for my cute niece.
So in my anal fashion, I had to do a practice cake(and probably wont be my last practice). Sarah's theme for her birthday party is
Pinkalicious. My mission is to make a giant cupcake cake to look like the one in the book.
Mission accomplished. I even made a huge cherry out of gum paste that I colored red with red food coloring.
Cute, very cute!

I have never seen a cake mold like that! I agree, it looks very professional. Did you put a glaze or anything on the bottom half of the cake or leave it plain? I followed the link to Amazon and will be buying this! Thanks for the inspiration!

I made a pink cake for my neice one year as well. To make the cake pink i added rasberry jello mix to the cake. I did just the diet pop cake (diet sprite can and white cake mix...thats it added sugar free rasberry jello mix) She loved having a bright pink cake!

Lydia,
I could pull your blog up to answer your question, But on the bottom I used a powdered sugar glaze that I tinted purple. I wasnt very pleased w/ it, so on my next practice cake I think I am going to try to bottom w/ white chocolate .

Stephanie,
My mom raves about the "pop" cakes, but I have yet to try one!

Leslie,

I just bought a silicone giant cupcake pan. With the Wilton pan, did you find that both sides baked evenly? I'm also assuming I have to make enough batter for two cake, right?

Leslie said...

***Gay Pinder***

Hi and thanks for contacting me. I cant say this cake pan was easy from the get go. I think I baked it 4 or 5 times. VERY IMPORTANT...make sure you use the Bakers Joy cooking spray w/ the flour in it. The first few times I baked it , the top part of the cake stuck badly!! The top part of the cupcake cooks faster than the bottom. So you might want to fill the bottom part of the pan and the put it into the oven for 10 minutes and then open the oven and add the batter to the top part. Or you can bake 1 side of the cake at a time. If you are using cake mix, I would make 2 box's. And you will use about 1 1/2 of the mixture.(about 4 cups per side)
Let me know if you have any more questions
